Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently viewed as one of the most complex but favored poker games. It’s a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, aims for action from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once invisible game, has increased in acceptance so rapidly.

Omaha hi low begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to each player. A sequence of betting ensues in which players can bet, check, or drop out. Three cards are given out, this is known as the flop. Another round of betting happens. Once all the players have in turn called or folded, another card is revealed on the turn. an additional sequence of betting follows and then the river card is flipped. The players will have to put together the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where many entrants can get flustered. Unlike Texas Hold ‘Em, in which the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player must utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot could be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is just how it sounds. It is the strongest possible hand out of every player’s, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical approach in almost all poker games.

The low hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the play. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that can be put together, with the worst being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there’s no lower hand available, the high hand wins the whole pot.

Although it seems complex initially, following a few hands you will be agile enough to get the basic subtleties of play easily enough. Since you have individuals betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha/8 provides an overwhelming range of betting possibilities and owing to the fact that you have several players battling for the high, as well as many shooting for the low hand.
