Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
