Internet poker has become globally acclaimed recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, arcs back in reality a bit further than its television scores. Over the years several types on the original poker game have been created, including a few games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the dealer instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different kinds of concealment. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the dealer declares "No further wagers." At that instance, both you and the casino and of course all of the other players receive five cards each. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s first card, you must in turn make a call wager or give up. The call wager’s amount is equal to your original wager, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your ante goes immediately to the casino. After the bet comes the conclusion. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, including a sum on par with the ante. If the house has a hand with ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand beats the bank’s hand. The bank pony’s up money equal to your ante and set odds on your call bet. These expectations are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for two pairs
- 3-1 for three of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- 100-1 for a royal flush
